The supposed importance of "the first 100 days" is yet another stupid American import we should stop using.
UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
It is news media that push those narratives, and people who reinforce the idea by supporting the media outlets who do it. However, in this instance, Labour are pushing it because it is such a high bar to push that much legislation through in such a short time. A lot of that will depend on how much of a majority they hold when they enter power.
A lot of the stuff they want to change is not new stuff; it is just a reversal of some of the most egregious acts from the Tories. The Tories have vilified the expectation to rights in the workplace. People in the UK are waking up to that fact. I really hope a lot are looking over from the US and asking the question about their own laws, which to anyone in Europe are grossly immoral. We need to get off this race to the bottom and look towards a better life for all, and not just for the super rich.
Say the line, tankies!
“Labour under Starmer are red tories and I can’t tell how they’d be any different”.
Whil Starmer may not be as far left as you'd like, if you can't see the difference between him and the current Tories, you're blind.
Surely any move towards the left and a fairer society is a good move?
You realise this is about breaking up the anti-union laws that the Tories have implemented?
You realise this isn’t my argument and I’m mocking it?
Editing after others have commented negatively towards your original quote is not a good look.
