Probably hella grippy on packed snow, but that can't feel good on bare pavement. Also if you take a spill, try and dodge the tires!
It's quite loud on pavement but doesn't feel that different except for the increased vibration.
I did this in the late 90s and early aughts with regular MTB tires. It works, but it feels really weird on pavement.
I suspect the lower fatbike tire pressure might help the situation.
How long is it supposed to last?
I have no idea. I'm about to find out.

I read people just threw zip ties every few cm around the wheel. This seems more destructive to the tire.
I don't see zip ties doing other that littering the forest. Plastic is not hard enough to dig into ice. On snow I didn't have issues even without studs
