Jesus Christ I can barely read these rags anymore. The ideological loading is just exhausting to sift through trying to find the actual point of the article - then you realize the ideological load is the only point of the article. Some choice quotes:

The stunning development appeared to catch Washington off guard. That’s an unnerving reality for the United States military, which has nearly 30,000 troops and its largest overseas base in South Korea, serving as a check against a belligerent North Korea and counterweight to an aggressive China in a strategically critical region.

Claiming that North Korea is belligerent in the same sentence as acknowledging those troops are posturing against China--but of course China is the aggressive one--is double think impressive to behold. Let me check my map real fast and see where this "strategically critical region" is. Maybe I'll be able to make sense of who the aggressor is that way.

The US-South Korea alliance has long been seen by both countries as a cornerstone of peace in the region, where North Korea continues to threaten South Korea and the US with its illegal weapons program.

Mmmmm yes didn't you know your weapons program is against the international rules based order you little 'sovereign' state? We'd really like it if you made yourself a rife target for invasion like Iraq, or Afghanistan, or Libya, or Syria. Disregard our ongoing weapons shipments to a genocidal entity which are literally illegal by our own rules please, we get to decide what is and isn't a proper application of the rules of course.

“At a time when South Korea’s interests in the Ukraine war have gained prominence, given North Korea’s now full-fledged involvement, Seoul’s cooperation with allies cannot be hampered by domestic division,” he said.

Ah just ending the article by uncritically being a stenographer for the reactionary piece of shit declaring martial law because it aligns with the empires totally justified and legitimate forever war thousands of miles away. I guess that's the real point of this article after all.

North Korea ... with its illegal weapons program

Their illegal weapons program. Israel's totally cool and normal "we don't have nukes *wink" routine.
