Billionaires are trying to buy permanent power across the world.
Avoiding this should be top prio for any government and ultimately every governed people. But I have my doubts, given the amount of hero worship these folks already bought themselves.
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

The marvel movies were prepping us to worship the powerful and trust that they'll save the day maybe? 🧐
Iron Man was a psy op
i don't think you understand who runs these governments and that pleb class about zero sway over any policy beyond something blowing up enough and them doing some half, later reversed "solution" that fucks us even harder.
You're not wrong, but nihilism also works against any control that the plebs may have. Even if we disagree that there is any, we should be open to the possibility of change.
we should be open to the possibility of change.
we have to go and get this change done! but first people need to understand the beast and it seems most still rely on old models of how government works, how it related to us etc.
things have changed and peasants have not caught up. only viable option as individual is to do some direct action within "market" economy. maybe one day critical mass will hit...
but for now we getting more fucking.
I love mocking US but the more I learn what UK elites did... holly fucking batamn, talk about contempt for the poors jfc.
So they should. Billionaires buying themselves parties is an abuse of the democracy.
He clearly has too much money. We should take a big chunk off him, call it's cine for electoral interference.
We should take a big chunk off him
His head?
I'm not suggesting it's Guillotine Time. Not yet anyway.
Wait until after breakfast. We're not barbarians.
Off with his head!
Not until I've finished my tea and toast, you don't!
The current system is very profitable for companies like Drax that survive off of government subsidies so spend a lot on bribes (oh sorry, lobbying, it's completely different I'm sure) for people in power to make such they keep these subsidies. Of course I imagine most MPs would be against this cap as it'd decrease their pay.
