Been vibing continuously. Some songs harder than others but overall pretty good. Really shows the difference between him and the rest. The flows, beats, switches. Obviously the lyrics. And some amazing feats.

Kendrick if you’re reading this I will let you impregnate me

I don't follow contemporary rap very closely. Is it still mostly materialism and misogyny?

If you're gonna listen to one song on the album, IMO it should be this one:

heart pt. 6 is also excellent

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

Kendrick is different.

there's still a lot of that in mainstream rap but Kendrick has never been like that, he's more of an empathetic storyteller. not gonna say he's never said anything problematic but I don't recall him bragging about wealth or disrespecting women, in fact he's very much against that sort of thing

I'm so over this type of release. It's all marketing and effects.

[–] Feline@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Calling a Kendrick release 'all marketing' is a bad take

[–] peppersky@hexbear.net 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

this album is literally released under the marketing firm he co-founded

[–] Feline@hexbear.net 5 points 4 days ago

Sure. Marketing is a big part of the music industry. They're all capitalists. But I don't think pop culture should just entirely be written off like that.

There was marketing for this? I haven't paid attention, so it caught me by surprise

[–] dead@hexbear.net 2 points 4 days ago

It was a complete surprise release. I saw some articles say that even the label didn't know about the album until it was released.
