It's literally all absolutely terrible shit and the worst of humanity, is this what other people see? Any other online space I visit isn't like this.

Facebook is pretty garbage, yeah. You gotta spend a lot of time blocking pages and people that post that shit.
@rackmountrambo Facebook got very useful for me when I blocked every group. Now I see pictures of my friends kids and their cats. I have a.simple rule when I.look at their site. Scroll, everytime i see something shared I click the 'block all from' whatever group the shared meme was in. When I block two things my session is over. Facebook takes me just a few minutes per day, and it is all keeping up with people I know (or knew and don't want to forget) in real life.
@bluGill but like is this what the other not-so-smart of my friends are seeing? Is this why they all have Confederate flag stickers and shit? This isn't really ok, there's nobody to tell normal people to just block groups, this is making people into extremists.
@rackmountrambo they are also seeing the same type of garbage from the extreme left wing.
It is what they want, the algorithm gives you more of what you interact with, and so people interacting with the extremeists see more of it.
@rackmountrambo Facebook (and Twitter, for that matter) are formulated to push extreme-right-wing views because those get the most engagement, either from disgust or zealous approval.
People who like fascism also like clicking suspicious ads for penis enlargement pills and barely-legal teens in their area, which makes Facebook and Twitter more money. It's a consequence of advertisers gaining control of all media.
