It's because you don't leave mushroom for fun

[–] TriPolarBearz@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (2 children)

The problem stems from other people's lack of interest in this topic. No cap.

So what you're saying is they think it's sporing

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

Sporing or not, it's a must.

Hey, fun and fungal friend, u/compostgoblin, what did you want to share/ chat about trees, fungi, mycorhizzae, etc? Between you, me, and all then other fungiphiles on the fediverse we can have all sorts of fun and good humor in this topic.

I’ve recently been fascinated by lichen. I never knew they are a symbiosis of fungi and algae!

They are ace! Extremophiles are so interesting. One of the most prolific species on the planet and they are being considered as a potential to help terraform planets such as Mars https://www.researchgate.net/publication/334603822_The_Lichen_Symbiosis_Lichen_Extremophiles_and_Survival_on_Mars

Thats messed up if they don't.

I really mean that.

It's just such a huge part of our environment people should know about & account for it in their perspective of the the world.

[–] compostgoblin@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh, nah, it’s just a meme. My wife has a biology degree and my family go hiking and camping together a bit, so cool environmental stuff gets discussed plenty

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh, no, I'm sorry, I wasn't clear - I was replying to the meme basically (to no one), didn't even think of you specifically/individually.

Your wife sounds great tho!
Bet she's not single :D

[–] compostgoblin@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 month ago

Oh, no worries! But yep, she’s pretty great :)

To quote Deleuze: Make rhizomes, not roots!

Absolutely!

I saw a documentary some time ago and that was mentioned. It was freaking mind blowing. I love the concept. I guess we barely know anything about how it works.
