I'd like to get back to using Google as my search engine. I tried DDG, Startpage, Qwant, even Searx and while they're all pretty decent they all have their flaws, and unfortunaltely Google is still the most reliable. I use Firefox (Floorp) and i've found out an extension called Google Container. I have my VPN always on and Google always slaps me with that fucking captcha when i start a new session (i reset cookies and stuff on closing). Does keeping Google in the exceptions on closing (keeping data and stuff) and opening it in a container make sense?

I’m not a data scientist, but everything I have read says that their AI powered fuckery is producing garbage results. I would love to see any comparisons you have documented.

I am currently testing Kagi (they have a free tier limited to 100 search queries) and it’s the BEST.

I haven’t seen garbage AI or Reddit results in two days and actually find what I am looking for….

Going back to Google? - never, I’ll pay to use Kagi rather than subject myself to Googles AI garbage now after only two days.

I checked Kagi and i was very curious but 5$ a month?? For a search engine? For a limited number of searches?

I really don’t care to pay for access to a search engine that’s private, good results, no AI garbage results or reddit results….but you can say that you get what you pay for really…

It’s an insignificant amount of money considering some people spend a lot more than that in a day on a take away coffee….

Understandable, but I was sold on it after the free trial. I actually got the results I was looking for most of the time, and I love that you can block/demote/promote certain sites, as well as the search lenses as they call them.

The incognito search url is also practical, searching with Kagi from your incognito browser windows.

No ads, no personalized search bubble, ... Worth the money to me. Apparently much of that can also be achieved with SearXNG, according to what people say,but you tried that already.

I moved away from Google a quite some time ago and I'm not going back even if they paid me to do it.

Tor is the browser, DDG is the built in search engine
