bring your apps to all platforms first before bringing out another halfbaked service...

This. please just finish all your other offerigns. Proron drive still does not have a linux desktop app. Proton VPN's desktop app is beoken half the time. No mail desktop app...

Completely understandable point, just mentioning that these are separate developer groups, developing different apps. That's why different products have different agendas and development cycles.

They took YEARS to redesign the Android app. They missed their promise deadline at least twice.

Now they are finally rewriting their Android app to be on par with their iOS app, but who knows how many years that'll take.

It's already been 8 months since they said they were rewriting it, and still haven't released anything, despite aiming for summer. Not to mention they're already planning on shipping a half baked version whenever they finally do..

As discussed in the January update, Android will require more work as we are rewriting more of the application, with a big focus on performance and stability. This means some Android features you have requested for Mail are not in our immediate scope for delivery. In particular, conversation view (also known as threading view) won’t make it into the first version of the new Android app, but we hope to deliver it soon after release. Thank you to everyone using the beta Android app for the helpful feedback you have sent us. We hope to be able to release the new Android app to everyone before the summer.

That's the worst thing about Proton AP. You pay a premium to wait like chumps. Not to mention they nickle and dime you for everything! I can't use Proton Pass with my expensive business plan, because they want me to pay even MORE to access it. Meanwhile BitWarden is like $1 per month.

I don't get why we need Proton Pass at all when we have bitwarden. Instead of finally giving me a drive app for linux desktop they're putting out a service that already exists???

Unsure if a desktop app is required for this, but unlocking via biometrics / yubikey instead of the keycode would be something I'd be very happy about :)

on reddit they wrote the yubikeys are a thing for whole Proton and all its apps, not Pass specific. and that they are looking into it. I am too waiting for this to come for the apps, as it’s kinda stupid now to have to set the codes 2FA to be able to use yubikeys just for the web.

[–] alex_herrero@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

That's actually working as a 2FA (yubikeys) for the web access. But not for mobile apps yet.

Looking forward to web ui since the extension is not available for Firefox ESR / For Browser.

At least on M1/2 Macs one can use the iPad version of protonpass as a desktop app that works with safari if configured in the safari settings.

I’m really missing emergency contacts that will be allowed to acces your vault if the shit hits the fan. Although I am excited about the project, I can’t move over from Bitwarden if this isn’t added.

If they can do the desktop app and I can use keyboard shortcuts for quick access to my entries, I will replace 1password with this service
