General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

“30p Lee is my past, my present, my future. There is no good and evil; there is only 30p, and those too weak to seek him”.

First time I heard that infamous speech in full, I could scarcely believe which era and country it was said in.

I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks it's acceptable to tell people to "fuck off to France" when they voice their displeasure at being loaded into a floating barge containing Legionella can go and do one as far as I'm concerned.

If you can't show any kind of empathy for fellow humans who are potentially fleeing for their lives then you are not deserving of any respect.

But he’s such an articulate and charismatic public speaker no?

He's the current face of Conservative politics. That's bad enough for me.

I just moved out of that greasy fucker's constituency. Ashfield is a futureless shithole full if belligerent cretins and he fits it to a tee. He campaigned and won on a platform of thinly-disguised xenophobia. Him and the local racist party, the Ashfield Independents (some of their senior members are back in court this week, I think) are revolting and I couldn't be happier to leave that piss-stinking hellhole behind.

But I feel so sorry for the Eastern Europeans who live in the area; there are a lot of them and in the last few years they have revitalised a lot of the towns - especially Sutton-in-Ashfield, who's high street is full of thriving businesses thanks to them - and are genuinely resented by many of the feckless locals.

Leanderthal is the past, and his political species is rapidly going extinct.
