I stumbled on this trough my main feed, I'm not a subscriber, and I have never read any of these works. I know nothing of Daoism. However, when I read this I feel apathy, not enlightenment. Caring and connection will lead to enlightenment faster than apathy in my experience.

Came here the same way you did and I share your point of view.
However I do think there is enlightening to be found in understanding that a human is only a consciousness that exists from moment to moment and receives external stimuli. Getting to this through meditation helped me being less affected by all the stuff that is going wrong in the world.
Step back from it. Reduce it to the light and sound it is. It takes some of its impact away.
I greatly disagree with seeing morality and immortality as the same, as well as life and death. Having an ethical and socialist view on the world is very important, even when not being affected by the unethical and unsocial aspects.
Well said. Agreed.
Thanks for the replies. I appreciate and understand where they are coming from. A couple of thoughts related to them. Life and death aren’t real according to some eastern spiritual traditions. They are different states of energy transfer. Acknowledging and accepting this reality brings peace and a conquering of fear. It can also help with compassion during difficult times.
It is said Taoism helps one understands how the universe works and Buddhism helps one understand how to deal with the universe. A dedicated meditation practice goes a long way too. Best wishes on your spiritual journeys.
