  • Brush: Maggard 24mm Tuxedo Synthetic
  • Razor: Merkur Futur
  • Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (1)
  • Lather: Central Texas Soaps - Cherry Pipe - Soap
  • Post Shave: Brut - Splash On
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Balm

Whipped out the Futur. With it's early 90's aesthetic, I just assume these are used by guys with mullets and yellow Corvette's. It shaves really well, I'll give it that. I cranked it up to 3.5 today.

Cherry Pipe sounds interesting. Comments on the soap?

In addition to the mullet, and yellow Corvette, you forgot the sleeveless undershirt [ I won't use the politically incorrect name ].

As you may know, Central Texas Soaps is out of the shaving game. I bought them a while back because they accepted cryptocurrency and I had several hundred dollars of "profit" to blow "at the time".

It's solid soap and it was cheaper than Stirling I think. Vegan, though. A bit on the voluminous side, but still creamy. On their website they advertised it as a "thirsty" soap which I appreciate hearing from an artisan.

The scent is pretty basic and nothing to write home about. I have "Down at the River" from them also, and it's a nice fresh scent.

The scent sounded interesting; a cherry pipe tobacco fragrance. Elysian Soap Shop has a scent called Cherie Tobacco that has cherries and tobacco on the label. [ However, chérie means "dear" as applied to a woman as in ma chérie ].

Or a yellow Opel Manta leaving a trail of Pitralon on the Rhineland Autobahn.

  • Brush: Wolfman WRB2 Bronze w/AP Shave Co MiG 26mm Premium Hybrid
  • Razor: Edwin Jagger 3One6 Grooved Blue
  • Blade: Personna Platinum (1)
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Ace - Soap
  • Toner: Thayers - Lemon - Toner
  • Aftershave: Noble Otter - Ace - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Floris of London - No. 89 - Eau de Toilette
  • Talc: Yardley Gold

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

A really great late-day shave. I enjoy the woodsy/tobacco scent of Ace. This is a very nice fragrance that makes me want to sit outside with a bourbon and a cigar.

Enjoy your weekend!

🍎Braeburn Barbershop💈

  • Brush: Grizzly Bay Fireball 26mm Declaration Grooming B15 Badger Knot
  • Razor: Karve Shaving Co. Overlander
  • Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [2]
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Braeburn - Soap
  • Post Shave: Noble Otter - Barrbarr - Splash

@djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social and I were recently trying to figure out which scents would pair well Braeburn, and it seems that barbershops pair really well, specifically Barrbarr.

Rating: 4.5/5

  • Prep: warm water
  • Razor: Leaf Thorn (Fig)
  • Blade: Derby Premium half DE
  • Brush: RazoRock 400 Noir SE 24 mm
  • Lather: Ariana & Evans - Boca Negra
  • Post Shave: Moon Soaps Old School balm

One pass head and neck shave. Slowly getting around to try out more of my new soaps...

Boca Negra is very pleasant. I think Peter actually took customer feedback to heart and didn't add too much fragrance here. I personally don't know how much of an upgrade the K2e base is compared to Kaizen 1/2, feels pretty minor since the other bases were already good too. The scent is very coffee and spice forward, so it pairs well with Moon's Old School. The Thorn continues to impress, now it's a tad milder since I got a few turkish barber blades for it. Glad to now have another modern SE razor in my arsenal that feels as good as the vintage razors.

Originally I wanted to take some vacation time to have next week off... But unfortunately, due to a staff shortage I need to work for two days, starting tomorrow. To make matters worse, it's the early shift. Well, FML. But somebody's got to do it.

🍎 Braebalon 🇨🇭

  • Brush: Mühle travel brush
  • Razor: Gillette Ball-End Tech
  • Blade: Derby Extra Super Stainless (green)
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann Braeburn
  • Aftershave: Pitralon Swiss version

Travel shave, taking Djunior to his grandparents over the long weekend. I haven't used a Tech in what feels like forever, and I enjoyed the reminder of how good they are. This particular one has no date code and would qualify for the #REGUS scavenger hunt tag, but we axed that one this year. Oh well. The small Silver tip Fibre brush is not a favourite of mine (small, tendency to fling lather around), but it's quite the little lather monster.

Braeburn++;

I'm really happy I ended up buying this soap, such a simple pleasure. Pitralon is a great match with its volatile pear note.

Nice combo. That's one I'll have to try too.

5/18/24

Close and comfortable shave, no nicks or irritation.

So good. Some days I get more tobacco out of it, and I love it even more those days. Yesterday was one of them.
