United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

This one is easy: It's because they're using the internet too much.
For some reason nothing is being done to this. Some psychologists even dismiss the fact. Gross incompetence that should in a sane situation lead to the overhaul of the whole field. It's like astrology at this point.
I'm sure you actually know a lot about psychology and aren't an armchair philosopher or anything. Wanna show us some of your papers? It should be easy to get published in a psych journal if it's just astrology, right?

But I guess this partially shows that at least some psychologists are on top of the problem. Just a few years ago (and I routinely talked to a few child psychologists then) the concensus was explicitly stating that internet / smart device use is not a significant factor.
It's good that the papers are starting to reflect what most parents of teenagers know already. Perhaps it's possible to align the actions as well in the near future. Some generations have been and will be lost, unfortunately.
Perhaps it's more to do with changes to the internet over the past 5 or so years? Such as the pervasive rise of algorithmic feeds designed to drive "engagement"?
