I am not an American, but doesn't America separate church and state? Like as one of the base rules? I know they are constantly pushing that boundary (for the "good" religions that is) but isn't this just a "nope, state can't send money to that."
It's seems pretty straight forward... What mental gymnastics are being used to get around that pesky fundamental cornerstone of the US Constitution?
They're using this to provoke challenges against the wall of separation between church and state. They feel confident, with good reason, that the christofascist majority on the Supreme Court will reinterpret our Constitution to eliminate that law.
