Unrelated, but whare those two holes on the back of his coat for? Vents?
I think they are buttons. Perhaps for a fabric belt for the waist. Seems to be of the fashion at that time.
I hear they also wore onions on their belts, which was the style at the time. And nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them...
