196 is some meme sub from reddit, the rule is you gotta post a meme or some shit like that.

Yeah 196 has been a thing for years, reddit just hushed them and other disproportionately active subs down with their algorithms to stop them taking over all, which is fair enough really as it's good to have a mix of subs as long as there's still a chance for each to show
Thanks for the info. Very interesting. I only started using reddit regularly like a yr ago so lot of this stuff over my head.
