Hi, I am new to Kbin like many, but I have a few questions on usage. So far I've liked it, but I keep getting logged out after a bit of inactivity and it makes me enter my credentials when I decide to comment. Is there a way to make it keep me logged in? I was very used to having reddit be basically perpetually logged in and being able to interact easily without constantly having to enter my credentials.

Second, when I click on links from the various posts, it doesn't open a new tab, and I end up closing the tab when done, and I don't have a tab to return to my Kbin browsing. Is there a setting for all new links to be opened in a new tab? This was also functionality I used with reddit, although I don't know if that was related to RES or reddit itself.

Lastly, speaking of the links, is there a way to make the link on the main page open the actual link to the external source instead of opening the post and comments? I feel like I am having to do extra clicks just to get to the content posted. I am used to viewing the content first, then going to the comments later if I choose to.

I set up this lemmy account about 10 days ago and my subscribed feed is really good, I'm having a lot of really good interactions.

So I made a kbin account a few days ago and I can't seem to get it going. I've tried searching for "magazines" and I subscribed to a few of them, but I can't seem to find my groove there. Any tips would be appreciated!

I'm currently looking for a new job. Right now I'm making $16 an hour in Florida, USA, and I'd prefer to be making that or better at my next job, but I'm having trouble finding something that pays $16 or better and is also part time, as I'm going to school for the summer and fall semesters. One thing I don't get right now, is how kbin/lemmy interact with each other?

When I subscribe to /m/technology here on kbin, do I get to see /c/technology posts from lemmy and can interact with them from within kbin? Or would I need to separately subscribe somewhere, or even register a new account on lemmy?

Also, If they're automatically federated, then how does it work with /m/askkbin and /c/asklemmy, both with different names.

On Beehaw I saw the settings for specifying languages, but the same place on KBin doesn't show that and I can't find it. Am I missing something or is it not (currently?) available?

Many years ago I made an account on Mewe (a Facebook alternative). I'm the only person I know on there, so the account basically gets ignored most of the time.

Last week my Mewe account suddenly started getting deluged with friend requests, always from men who are single or widowed and have little or no post history or connections. Obvious romance scammers trolling for bites. I've gotten over thirty of them, after years of no activity. I'm wondering if the timing is coincidental, or is this a sign of rats abandoning the sinking Reddit ship.

Help.

I may be being stupid here but is there a way to click on an article/post and cross post it to another relevant group/magazine? I'd rather not have to copy and paste it all, it would help with community visibility if you could cross post from smaller communities to larger ones.

Hey Kbin, is it possible to unblur NSFW images?

I have "hide adult content" turned off in my profile settings but when i visit some NSFW magazine (e.g. lemmynsfw.com) it blurs some images until i hover over them

Well, one of the good thing out of the Snoo Platform (reddit) was the Global Reddit Meetup Day (GRMD), and local subreddit meetups.

Vulcan was participated in local GRMDs from 2017 to 2019.

Will it be when journalists from tabloid newspapers start putting articles on their Facebook pages saying 'after a fallout with the neighbours/school/bride/boss one angry mother/homeowner/parent took to kbin/Lemmy to ask others what they think'.

I suspect that most tabloid journalists would find the concept of instances and different systems showing the same content too mind-blowing.

So... add new article is to make new threads. And create magazine is... a new sub?

EDIT: Don't want to make another microblog, so an edit is it. Sometimes when I'm upvoting a comment, it will give me an error. It's not just once, but repeatedly. Anyone know why?
