I don't think we are really disagreeing. I agree people have to take batteries seriously. Same with anything with a lot of energy in a small space.

I think EVs should be built to have batteries replaced. Not because the batteries will wear out, but because they well be obsolete before the EV is.

There is a lot of anti-EV FUD out there.

I work a bit with EVs and we are an all EV family. A colleague of mine built a house battery out of two crash hybrid batteries. I'm a big believer in right to repair (and open source). I don't think EV should be different. Car manufacturers are always looking for excuses to lock out independent repairs.

I'm not sure. 100x is a lot. I read about it generating it's own oxygen. Apparently it's about cooling rather than just starving it, because as you say, it has it's own oxygen. We'll get better at it and the risks is continue go down.

I've not found stats on how hard it is to put on when compared. I'm sure it significantly more, but 100 seams way too much. Tank of fuel burns well. It's got more energy than the battery.

Your probably should if your interested in digital rights. Pretty good author too.

If the fires are four times as bad, but twenty times less likely, still a win. 😃

I think a lot of people say out this election. They can't then complain they got Trump. I don't understand Trump Republicans, but that's not all Republicans.

If Trump had lost, second time in a row, it could have well been the end of him. Big enough loss and it could have been end of the whole movement. Republicans could have come back to the centre. If you didn't vote Harris, Trump is your fault. The system is completely broken, but it's still what you have. Campaign for a better system while voting for the least bad. Enjoy your Trump.

Mmm I know what you are saying but I used to work with a lot of 3D game artists. All but a few hated Blender and said they found it counter-intuitive. But really it was that it wasn't just like 3DS Max and Maya (and it is a bit like Max to be honest). I'm delight over a decade later it's use has ballooned anyway.

During the same time in games, they switch all the non-2D artists to GIMP to save money. Every time I went into the animation room for something, I could hear "GIMP can't do X or Y" and every time I could show them how it could. They didn't want to try and were confused/cross it wasn't PS.

Problem is it is used to clean out copyleft too. Copyleft is a social good version of copyright. Using AI to wash it away, along with authorship, is not ok. Lots of open source wouldn't have taken over if it wasn't for stickiness of copyleft breaking "the tragedy of the commons".

It too me a while to work out why my Nextcloud stuff wasn't working on my phone. It wasn't until I went to http://duckdns.org on mobile data I saw the block. I had changed ISP from one with IPv6, which I had setup, to an ISP without it, and thought it might be that. But it was just coincidence.

I've written to O2 but I doubt they will change anything, so I'll be changing network.

So heads up UK O2 self hosting people!

So I've got Android as I want. LineageOS, no Google, Magisk, MicroG but with AndroidAuto with OsmAnd+.

But the outside world of WhatsApp, Bank apps, etc is putting pressure to join. Plus not everything works properly with MicroG instead of the Google service provider. Makes me cross techno-politically, but I can't always hard life tech choices when it effects others.

So, what do others do? At the moment, I've thinking I need a non-free phone and a free-phone! Then what, I keep swapping SIM?? I can't see a workable VM solution to run a non-free Android in a freer Android.

The state of the phone market is pitiful.
