I wonder that myself. Someone didn't double check the QR code before sending it into production... but you'd think a huge company like Mattel would have some SOPs for this kind thing.

There seems to be a commenter on the article that is saying it's a Western Digital firmware issue and not a Windows issue.

It’s NOT a Windows issue. It’s an SSD firmware issue.

Linux developers encountered this firmware bug back in 2022.

I do a workaround when installing/setting up Windows on others PCs. Use my dummy MS account -> create local user -> change to admin -> delete out the MS account. Boom, then only the local account is on the PC.
