How close are we to getting to these guys shooting at each other?

bit idea: dropping dozens of time-delayed firecrackers in the area

You reminded me of this scene from Wind River where local cops stand off with federally contracted security https://youtu.be/MK_edxQ5awc?si=t8zM1wD8ivqUXwf2

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

Very unlikely. For one, border patrol isn't big enough or well armed enough. They're cops, this will go to the courts.

[–] Grimble@hexbear.net 15 points 8 months ago

Honestly? Whether you're a troublemaker or a foreign intelligence agency, just do some corny Tom Clancy shit. Forge documents that imply some kind of escalation (threats from the other side), then quietly distribute them to whichever side's more likely to attack first. Once the ball's rolling, it'd be hard to stop

You can expect DOJ to sue Texas over this.

Can we expect DOJ to sue Texas over this?

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 26 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Even if they win, what if Texas just doesn’t pay? What’s the judge gonna do? Wag their finger at Abbot?

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 11 points 8 months ago

Or perhaps tweet at him

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 9 points 8 months ago (1 children)

There's a lot the feds can do. Highway funding, school funding.

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 13 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I would certainly not look forward to the 6-3 decision about the federal authority to do this

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 11 points 8 months ago

True, true. I wonder if open sedition would get Joe to move against the court. I really can't make sense of him. His love of evil is tied to some kind of pathetic worship of the American Civic Religion but I don't understand where the lines are drawn

Send a tepidly worded letter

Biden is such a fucking ineffective shit god I hate him and hope he dies

[–] 420blazeit69@hexbear.net 44 points 8 months ago (1 children)

There's a tailor-made solution for Biden: federalize the national guard and arrest any politican who still gets in the way. Eisenhower did it in Arkansas.

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 23 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

I’d be jailing all these CHUD governors. Sedition, human trafficking, hate speech, lock em up. If the chudges try to start shit lock them up too

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 62 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Wow it looks like the border patrol is woke and needs to be taken care of. Patriots in control now.

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 51 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Me doing A/B testing where I blame the border patrol for being too woke to one room of Texans and blame the national guard for being too woke to another room of Texans

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 32 points 8 months ago

Our research shows that viewers are more likely to blame the national guard for being too woke near the holidays whereas border patrol gets blamed for being too woke consistently on weekends

[–] NinjaGinga@hexbear.net 57 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Texas being the fourth front in the anti-imperialist struggle is unexpected, but not unwelcome.

[–] coeliacmccarthy@hexbear.net 79 points 8 months ago (1 children)

you do not in fact have to hand it to them

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 37 points 8 months ago

I won't hand it to them but fascist infighting can be useful

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 53 points 8 months ago (4 children)

American warlord era and it’s just Texas being controlled by dozens of cliques run by the Bush’s, oil barons, suburban mall cops, and Whattaburger chains

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 19 points 8 months ago (2 children)

May the whuttyaburrger chains win, amen

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 13 points 8 months ago

The burger always reigns supreme in Amerikkka

[–] Grimble@hexbear.net 14 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Holding out hope for one absurdly tiny red enclave to pull a Mao on the warlords and have it remembered as the strategic miracle of the century

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 7 points 8 months ago

Their names? Austin Red Guards

[–] GinAndJuche@hexbear.net 12 points 8 months ago

don't forget the mormons, the polygamy ones have sects there.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 45 points 8 months ago

Liberal democracy is such a fucking farce.

Literally nothing from the Trump's admin's border policy changed when Biden went to office, they drum up outrage over nothing. It's really annoying that it works too, because the hogs are convinced that the USA is being flooded with us-foreign-policy while the libbest of libs think they've done anything to improve human rights for migrants, when it's actually become worse.

[–] asg101@hexbear.net 38 points 8 months ago

Maybe they can just rename it to Fort Sumter Park to make themselves perfectly clear?

[–] ClimateChangeAnxiety@hexbear.net 34 points 8 months ago (3 children)

So that’s, like, treason, right?

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 38 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Yes it is. And if the liberals decide to punish them, it will take 17 years and the result will be everyone pays $500 and they get new careers anyway

[–] BeamBrain@hexbear.net 23 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

it will take 17 years and the result will be everyone pays $500

By which point the amount will be just barely enough for a week's groceries

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 32 points 8 months ago

Sedition. Treason is material aid and comfort to the enemy.

[–] coeliacmccarthy@hexbear.net 28 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)
[–] ClimateChangeAnxiety@hexbear.net 34 points 8 months ago

Oh don’t get me wrong I only mean that Greg Abbott should be executed, I don’t actually care about “treason”
