Currently (mainly due to lack of imagination), we're mainly copying the reddit format of daily threads. Is there anything that you'd like to see ongoing?

I enjoyed the "what games are you playing" thread, could do that once every few weeks maybe

[–] sideone@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I always like this one.

Can we return "Thursday Complaints" to "Thursday Moans" so I can go back to chuckling to myself about shagging my wife on a Thursday morning every week?

[–] FabulousAardvark@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Very specific, but I now agree

Biscuit of the day (BOTD)

What is your favourite biscuit? What biscuit will you be having with elevensies? What biscuit do you hate? What do you call a garibaldi?

What are you listening to? 🎧

What's for dinner tonight? 🍽️

Has anyone seen something uplifting happening amongst this boring dystopia? 🙂

What’s for tea tonight

I enjoy ranting on Thursdays, never knew I had so much to complain about until someone asked! Don't really partake in the Tuesday one though because who has time to watch tv these days anyway.

Maybe it would be fun to have a day where instead of just chatting, we're encouraged to post a photo that sums up our day? Although having to use an external image host might be a barrier for some...ok I'll keep thinking lol.

@TeaHands I would participate in the Tuesday one if I didn't feel like it was always the same answer, due to how infrequently I get the chance to sit and watch something with the Mrs.

I had to just give up trying to watch stuff with my wife. Otherwise I’d be waiting forever while she watches utter shite ghost hunting pish on YouTube!

To be fair, I don’t blame her - we moved in October and because the living room is quite big we have 3 of the weans’ computers in there, with one half being the couch and tv space. Needless to say, with three of them playing minecraft etc and shouting that it’s not the most chill place to try and watch shit. I’m able to just filter out the noise and watch shit, but I it’s a bit chaotic for her to be able to relax.

[–] ScottyB_@mastodon.social 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

@Finnbot I empathise there. We moved about 2 years ago and I made sure that we had a nice adult space in the loft where she can sit in a comfy corner and binge whatever crap she wants to rewatch to chill while playing a game or scrolling.

I'll be on my chair in the same room gaming with pals, all while the kid is downstairs in his own hangout space. It's honestly bliss now that it's setup, but previously we were all over each other when trying to unwind.

[–] Finnbot@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Exactly - it means we/they can play down here and not worry about disturbing her. She’s got all her shit up there and it’s like a wee safe spaces from the frenetic atmosphere having 5 weans provides!

Get that poor woman a fancy shed or something omg, that sounds like hell.

[–] Finnbot@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh she has her own wee haven up in our room. I’m kinda jealous because my pc is also in the living room and it does sometimes rip ma knitting when they get a bit loud! I’ve taken my work laptop to work up there more than once and it’s like a wee zen den.

[–] TeaHands@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Ah good, everyone needs to be able to relax sometimes! 4 PCs in one living room during the summer heat is giving me palpitations as well though lol 😬

[–] TeaHands@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah in our house the tv is for:

a) video games b) him watching YouTube videos about video games c) basically rewatching all the Star Treks on an endless loop so I doubt anyone wants to hear about that

[–] ScottyB_@mastodon.social 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I could listen to Patrick Stewart all day to be fair.

Occasionally throughout my day I'll hear him say *"There are four lights!"* in my head.

[–] Finnbot@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

It really is cathartic and I didn’t realise how much I missed it until they started popping up again here.

Daily commute stories?

[–] B0NK3RS@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I wasn't a sub on CasualUK but I did like the daily threads so I'm happy to go along with the Reddit way. TV, games, pets, hobbies, complaints, Monday mornings etc are all good.
