General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

MODERATORS

The latest Ipsos Political Monitor, taken 14th to 20th June 2023, highlights strong public dissatisfaction with how the government is running the country (especially amongst mortgage holders) and increased public pessimism about the state of the economy. The survey also explores public satisfaction with the main party leaders and sees Labour’s lead in voting intention grow to 22 points.

Anyone still happy with the Tories currently probably falls into one of three categories from what I have seen:

  1. rich enough to not be affected by the crazy cost of living
  2. somebody who sees a politician or political party like their favourite football team and will blindly support them no matter what.
  3. people living on a different planet

I think 2 is unfair towards football fans. Most will readily admit when their team is shit.

I'm keen to learn what the other 20% are satisfactory about.

Clearly aren’t paying attention to anything, are financially stable, and are exceptionally clueless?

I'd love to be 'I still like the Tories' level of rich.
