Cable guy is way underated. Underneath the slapstick humour, It's a dark tragedy with a great prediction of future at the end.
Are any of Jim Carrey's The first couple decades of movies underrated, like aren't they considered pretty highly rated?
It was much less popular at the time and has remained that way, except as a cult film. The marketing was partially to blame with the initial reception, but I think people just don't like Jim Carrey as a creepy stalker.
The washroom beatdown was epic. Carey can be very scary.
compared to his other movies, its underrated. as-in, it didn't get as much recognition, while its one of his best movies in my opinion. Compare to Dumb and dumber, The mask, Ace Ventura, those movies are crazy popular, for good reason but they have no depth. Cable guy is funny, but if you look at it carefully its a very disturbing drama. That,s the part the public missed and tought, of it as an ok Carey movie.
