I don’t know what is more depressing: realizing that if time travel were possible at any time in the future they would have come to fix this bullshit, so it isn’t possible ever, or that time travel will actually be possible but killing any of these four isn’t a priority because what comes next is so much worse, that all future time travel interference attempts will try to fix that what is yet to come. Or even better, this is the best possible timeline and killing Hitler or preventing the rise of global capitalism causes something even worse.

You're forgetting that your present is their past. They're not going to change things in the past that led to such an advanced society that time travel becomes possible. They're no more attached to your perceived suffering than you are to Genghis Khan's victims, or Shaka Zulu's, or Henry the VIII's wives. It's just academic to them. IDK if you ever watch star Trek, but it took WWIII, and the Eugenics Wars to lead to the post scarcity, intergalactic Federation of Star Trek. It is arrogant to think there's something special about our era that would lead a time traveler here to make corrections. This is of course discounting the newer concepts about time travel, that they wouldn't be changing anything about their present anyways, they'd just be creating another timeline.

Yeah I’m a pretty big Trek nerd so I know all about that. I’m with janeway on the subject of fixing the past: Ignoring the TPD is much less of a headache, so fix away dear future readers 🙏

Maybe someone did come back to fix the bullshit, but it created an alternate timeline that they are now living in, while we're stuck in this shitty one

That's one theory and there's also a couple other theories. One where doing something back in time just removes the reason for going back in time so time travel doesn't get invented. Another is that all time travel already happened and time travel can't actually change anything because it is bound to happen either way.
