Yerba mate is a South American tea plant.
In the graphic novel series and subsequent movie adaptation of Scott Pilgrim, one character gives a long list of teas, one of which is made up. Then, the other character asks if some of them were made up
No clue, but I am not that novel character.
The person you responded to was making a reference to said graphic novel and movie.
