General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

~~He already knows the vote will pass.~~ This is just narrative to make it look like the Tories are unified and the infighting has stopped. The reality is that the factions, that were gunning for him, could not decide on who they wanted to replace him. This is nothing more than a stay until they can get themselves sorted out.

The ERG are pushing their version of a narrative by publicly stating that the bill should be pull for amendments. This is so they can say I told you so when it fails at a later date. There is nothing they can do to make the bill pass without breaking international laws or agreements. This specifically threatens the TCA with the EU. Who only happens to be our largest trading partner. When the bill gets to the Lords, they will reject it. It is not part of any manifesto they were voted in with.

Just don't put the pop corn away just yet.

This seems very much up in arms still. What was said this morning and last night has changed around.
