Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

20 years in prison is the likely outcome. Now that prison will be a hotel suite and Trump will likely have access to social media where he will claim to be a political prisoner, but he won't be playing golf or riding down golden elevators.

Dude needs to just Epstein himself already.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fuck that. He needs to be ground down by the justice system. He must face public humiliation. Lock him the fuck up.

I'll take either at this point. Or just, as Douglas Adams once put it about what happened to the second-worst poet in the universe, "his own major intestine, in a desperate attempt to save life and creation, leapt straight up through his neck and throttled his brain."

After a few years of incarceration.

[–] InternetUser2012@midwest.social -2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Even if he's on lockdown in a hotel, I'm alright with that. He'll be out of the public eye and it will eat at him until the day he dies.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fuck that. Why the fuck should he get special treatment, other than solitary confinement to make sure that no one gets information from his stupid ass?

[–] InternetUser2012@midwest.social 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Because in the real world, the world were the GOP rigged the system, that isn't going to happen. Would I like it? Hell yes. I'd buy a ticket to watch him hang. I'd rather see him in a hotel on lockdown that him walking the streets in front of a camera.

This is defeatist bullshit. We are a country of laws, not men. Or so it remains to be determined. Trump must not be treated with deference and penning him at mar-a-fucko or wherever isn’t going to cut it. You’d be locked up in a supermax for doing the same shit. FFS, he’s being charged under the Espionage Act.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yes, but... *gestures broadly at everything.*

I would be locked up. I'm not rich and an ex president either. This fuck should be in prison for bullshit he's done 40 years ago and has continued to do, but he's got dirt on people and money. It's not defeatist bullshit, it's being realistic. IF you think he's going to do hard time for anything, you really have no idea how things work. Is it right? Hell no, is there anything we can do about it? Again, hell no. No way in hell the people in power are going to let that happen because then we could go after them and they'd all be in prison leaving us with nobody to run shit.

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Y'all are still delusional if you think he's going to jail. The u.s would never allow a president to set foot in jail. He's a rich, white, ex president, he's absolutely not going to jail.

The best outcome is to bog him down in lawsuits and charges until he's dead from old age and big Macs.

Emoluments?

Make him pay back every corrupt dollar he gifted. Lots and lots of cases for each individual crime, tying him up in court for decades. Drain him dry in lawyers fees and repayments.

It's probably just a dream but I like the thought of it.

Let us hope dammit!
