I'm getting out of control in c/food today. That's three posts today and it's only the early afternoon. Don't worry. It's probably a one day thing. Probably.

Arnold Palmer (drink)

The Arnold Palmer is a non-alcoholic beverage that combines iced tea and lemonade. The name refers to the professional American golfer Arnold Palmer, who was known to often request and drink this beverage combination; some attribute the invention of the beverage to the golfer.

it's like a more earthy/fruity cayenne pepper, like why don't people use more of it? there's so many jalapeños so it's not like it wouldn't be cheap to make

just a shout out to ground jalapeño, you're a real spice king

soup recipe is basically this but I saw a similar one that included kale, so I added it. tbh this might be the first time I've eaten kale (this is the first time I've cooked with it but I might have eaten it in a something cooked by someone else) and I think it's the highlight of the dish

bread is just basic lean dough, 70% hydration

The most Republican and Democratic cuisines, according to campaign funds

We scoured campaign finance reports to reveal strikingly partisan preferences for various restaurants, with few more polarizing than McDonald’s.

There's a ton of data in the article and I found that to be annoying. I just want the stuff that's silly or amusing.

Recipes:

  1. Tofu
  2. Macaroni Salad
  3. Corn Recipe - Ingredients: Corn. Instructions: Microwave one ear for three minutes.

The macaroni salad may look a bit depressing, but it actually ended up tasting really good. I opted to do an oil-based one because the nearest store to me does not have vegan mayonnaise, and vegan mayonnaise can be a bit costly as well.

Happy removedober (we need more spooky emotes)!!! It's been super hectic so only one post this week however here's a super comfy one, Japanese curry; enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 16 oz of baked or fried tofu (or any protein)
  • 1lb of potato's cut into bite size cubes
  • 2 carrots chopped
  • 2 stalks of celery chopped
  • 1 Onion diced
  • 8 oz King Oyster mushrooms chopped
  • 4 cups veggie stock
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil
  • 4-6 cubes of s&b curry roux Serve with rice

Instructions

  • Add oil to a large pan and sauté the mushrooms until lightly browned; set aside.
  • Using the same pan, add more cooking oil and sauté onions until they caramelize.
  • In a medium pot, add the sautéed mushrooms, sautéed onions, potatoes, protein, carrots, celery, veggie stock, and soy sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer with a cover. Cook for 30 minutes or until the veggies are to your desired tenderness.
  • Using a sieve, stir the curry roux into the broth. The broth will slowly turn darker. Test and season with more soy sauce if needed.

Serve with rice and enjoy!!

When the package says "add half a teaspoon of butter" or whatever, it's just straight up lying to you. There is literally ZERO perceivable difference between instant rice made with only water, and instant rice made with water plus a little butter. I've tested this myself. If you think the half-teaspoon of butter does some kind of fancy chemistry thing that's necessary for the instant rice to do its thing... No. The butter literally doesn't do anything. Absolutely nothing. Zilch. The package literally just tells you to add butter because market analytics show that if the package tells you the truth — that you really only need to add water — people will be biased to think it's a "worse product". So the butter is literally a placebo! Just a placebo, nothing more! And the same also goes for an enormous amount of instant foods that tell you to just add water plus, very conveniently, exactly one Extra Ingredient™!

How fucking many cows had their boobs fondled all because instant food companies noticed a slight increase in sales if they lied on their packaging? Hell, even for those who used margarine, how much margarine did you end up wasting on a literal placebo? How many teaspoons did you have to wash for no reason?

What the fuck

Personally I like round but I live with square if that's all they have. I found round easier to eat since you can fold it if you want. Actually I don't know if square is a thing out west or if it's strictly east coast.
