Taboo Question (sh.itjust.works)

I have a question about... Gaming on Mac. I know, I know. It's for my wife, though. Lol!

She has a very old Windows laptop that I cannot convince her to let me put Linux on to improve its life. I'm looking to source an upgrade for her. She is an iPhone person, through and through, and I thought it might be nice to get something for her in that ecosystem. So, I'm looking into a MacBook of some sort.

The question: how does a MacBook hold up to light gaming? We're talking Sims 4 and Minecraft, primarily.

(I am an author of this game. I am not a shill, game is 100% free, there is no premium content, full game is avalaible without paying - this is work of passion and feedback is my main motivation).

"Dominion of Darkness” is a strateg/RPG text game in which the player takes on the role of a Sauron-style Lord of Darkness with the goal of conquering the world. He will carry out his plans by making various decisions. He will build his army and send it into battles, weave intrigues and deceptions, create secret spy networks and sectarian cults, recruit agents and commanders, corrupt representatives of Free Peoples and sow discord among them, collect magical artifacts and perform sinister plots. Note – one game takes about 1 hour, but the premise is that the game can be approached several times, each time making different decisions, getting different results and discovering something new.

Game is avalaible for free, online: https://adeptus7.itch.io/dominion

I am constantly improving the game, adding new content and mechanics, so Your feedback would matter.

If you are hesitant to play the game, I invite you to watch/listen to the reviews:

I've been trying to give away some accounts for some time now with no success. Not sure if there's some kind of account-give-away scam that went around or something but they are my accounts I haven't used in years. Just hoping someone gets some fun out of them.

I ordered my Playdate last week, and it arrived today. I am having a blast with it so far. Highly recommend it. The build quality is really solid, and the software is snappy and fast. Seriously, get yourself one of these.

The Heroes of Might and Magic III, 25 years old and still awesome. I honestly think it’s the most replayable game ever (at least for me). Plenty of maps out of the box. Most of them can be played with a different town each time. If you’re done with that, you can change the difficulty. If you’re done with that, you can change the hero. If you’re done with that, there are community maps. If you’re done with that, there are community mods, which also have other maps. It goes on and on. And it’s so easy to just chill as it’s turn based, so no need to pay attention much, unless you really want to. I like playing games while I watch YT, and H3 is perfect for that. I love it haha

It’s probably not for everyone, but everyone has to try it at least once (the GoG version tho, forget any other ones exist).

I am an avid horror gamer, and I’ve been curious if From The Darkness and Wrong Floor are one of the same games, or developed by a different person. I noticed it looks the same, but it starts off a bit differently. I just find it weird and confusing but also cool.

I remember watching one of the streamers I watch, back in 2023 Halloween where she played From The Darkness, the game in which you take place in an apartment and go up die stairs because the elevator broke or something.

I recently remembered this because I have From The Darkness in my Steam Wishlist.

Insurgency Sandstorm got me hooked. I've now played over 500 hours against bots and it's still a lot of fun.

Are there any comparable milsim(-ish) games against AI?

  • PC
  • I'm not interested in PVP
  • ARMA is great but for me more cramp than fun
  • Ground Branch feels more like a tech demo

Do you have any tips for me? They don't have to be brand new games either.

Hello, I guess everyone knows the current state of AAA games in general, so I am looking into other game markets. I have looked into indie games , but while I do like it, I feel the budgetary constraints and dvelopment limitations are a limit to indie games.

Does anyone can suggest good AA games or AAA titles without crap in it? My go to genre is FPS, open world games and story based games in general.

Also, no need to mention popular games, I am looking more for "hidden gems", if you will. Thanks.
